Why Not Now?

Hi friends,

Jumping right in to catch you up:

Kiel & I finished loading up the BIG yellow Penske moving truck on Sunday morning of August 30th of 2020 with what remained of our Lebanon, NH - 48A apartment belongings after:

• A large storage unit purge

• 1 motorcycle + 1 gravel bike sale :(

• 5 hot, lengthy & sweaty summer yard sales (I did partake in chilled rose' by late afternoon to take the edge off boredom and melting)

• Numerous Craigslist listings, bartering & meet-ups

• Watching strangers rifle through our near daily pile of free items we placed on our lawn; which was rather entertaining.

• Packing, patching, painting & elbow grease cleaning

• Heartfelt and gushy so-longs.

Adventure is on! Driving (Kiel) and riding (moi) in a loaded 26' truck with one of our cars in tow across this vast, beautiful, with spots of lush, yet also quite barren country while taking the northern route across the Continental Divide, requires research, planning, and all out flexibility. I believe this uprooting trek has made each of us…. Ummmmm… stronger... "What doesn't kill you," right? :)

(The itchy bites on my lower legs only lasted for a few days after staying our 2nd night in what must have been a portal that we wearily fell through to this 1970's motor inn in Adair, Iowa.)

Back on the road...

5 days later, we landed at our pretty city view apartment in Portland, Oregon - intact in body, mind, and still liking one another. Having purchased the 'epic moving package,' we received a side of city riots, wildfires, and a heavy slice of pandemic to accompany our outings and new explorations. Move? Why not now?!

Here is the Why: To escape the seemingly endless, frigid Northern New England, though initially nostalgic, winters that we are no longer cheerful fans of for the temperate Portland winters with year long green and blooming flowers! Also, there are so, sooooooo many restaurants, pubs, cafe's, museums, shops, gardens, and errands all within walking distance + cycling, hiking, expansive forest trails, the Pacific Coast, the hot, sunny & DRY summers... oh yeah! :), and the cherry on top ~ Zach is in Tacoma, WA, Hailey is in Denver, and Felix will soon attend UC Boulder, making getting together much easier!

Where are we 9 months later? Initial jobs fell through; however, I did land another that started in December. I am putting my Human Development & Early Childhood background to use as a full-time Nanny for a most DARLING and joyful baby boy! In addition to my M-F position, I stay active with my Wellness Style services.

After that partial sigh of relief with securing my job, oodles of fingers crossed, and mighty prayers, Kiel also secured a position in January after months of lengthy interviewing (HOLY mole’, what a job THAT is in of itself!!) So, has it been worth it? Though it was pretty rough & sketchy there for a while - NO. LIE - , it has ABSOLUTELY been worth it! Again, “what doesn’t kill you…”

The extremely stressful, no job situation for both of us the first few-ish months after we arrived, and on the heels of the not so wee expense of moving across the country was terrifying, but the experience was also humbling and made us live the most in the moment than I can ever remember. We are recovering, and my self conditioning to be uber stressed 24/7 about finances is oddly subsiding into grounded joy.

Though we have moved to the West Coast, I am still 'here!' My wellness services remain and my passion for coaching has chimed in well to the remote times of Zoom!
